March is a magical month, filled with the excitement of spring and the celebration of St. Patrick's Day! This month is the perfect opportunity to inspire our young writers with engaging and creative activities. As teachers and caregivers to young children, we know how important it is to nurture our young writers’ creativity. That's why I'm excited to introduce these March Writing Prompts!

MARCH WRITING PROMPTS

Ahhh…springtime for kindergarten. Such a WONDERFUL time of the year! This is the point in the year where all the hard work starts to show up and show out – much like all the blooms I see outside. Now, the plants are getting ahead of themselves with our wacky weather. But the kinders – they are right on schedule!

I've always loved March. The Irish in me is all about four-leaf clovers, lucky horseshoes, and of course Lucky Charms! I find that at this point in the year, their writing can get so creative as they can finally sound out words and get their thoughts on paper.

These March writing prompts are perfect for kindergarten, first, and second-grade students. With a total of 13 engaging prompts, each theme sparks imagination and inspires storytelling.

One of my favorite spring writing ideas involves a leprechaun visit. I know many kids like to come up with traps – but my classroom decided a few years ago that they'd rather ‘welcome' a leprechaun, so maybe they wouldn't play so many tricks on them! We write letters to the leprechaun instead, and sometimes they use the prompt, “If I had a leprechaun…” to tell them how they would be welcome and treated kindly!

These cards help students visualize words and enhance their vocabulary, making writing even more fun!

Plus, your purchase includes a beautiful cover to bring everything together, creating an inspiring writing collection that your students will be proud of.

Imagine your students' excitement as they share their stories about lucky leprechauns, shamrock adventures, and colorful rainbows! These March Writing Prompts celebrate the spirit of St. Patrick's Day and foster a love for writing and creativity in your classroom or homeschool.

Happy teaching and happy writing! 🍀✍️
